JC WHITTINGTON

About Me

JC Whittington is currently leading BBC News’ transition to 24-hour news streaming, reflecting the industry's shift from traditional broadcast to digital platforms. As a video journalist, producer, and newsroom leader, she is helping shape how stories are told in the modern media landscape.

Whittington has 10 years of experience in the field, starting as a producer at ABC News, where she contributed to the network winning an Edward R. Murrow Award. She then worked at CBS WUSA9 in Washington, D.C., where her video work helped bring the station from No. 3 to No. 1 in website views, consistently placing her in the top 1% of all Tegna journalists. She also worked as a video journalist at Politico, covering Capitol Hill and the White House, producing video series with lawmakers.

A native of Bowie, Maryland, Whittington grew up just outside the nation’s capital and developed a passion for reporting on race, gender, and politics. She has extensive experience in both local and federal government reporting, and her work contributed to saving a historic Black church in Washington, D.C., from demolition during a period of gentrification.

Whittington is also an adjunct professor at Georgetown University, where she teaches video journalism, helping shape the next generation of multimedia journalists. She is always looking for ways to grow, develop her craft, and give back to her community.
