JC WHITTINGTON

About Me

Jasmine 'JC'  Whittington is currently a multimedia journalist at WUSA9, the CBS station in Washington, D.C. She is fulfilling her life-long dream of telling stories about her community she grew up in. Her video work brought the station from #3 in the market to #1 in website views. She consistently performs in the top 1% of all of Tegna.

Whittington hails from Bowie, Md., just on the outskirts of the nation's capital, where she cultivated her interests in the topics of race, gender, politics, and journalism.

She has two years of federal government work experience with four major government agencies. It is through this experience that she applies her insight and connections to report accurately on news coming from the federal government.

Whittington then spent time learning how local government works as a reporter in Maryland and Washington, D.C. Her first big story brought attention to gentrification in the nation’s capital. Her story helped a long standing Black church become a historic site and avoid being torn down by developers.

ABC News was her next endeavor.  Whittington regional produced for over half of the country, wrote and pitched for digital, edited video, field produced, and shot video for shows airing nationally. It was here she learned how to cover breaking news by herself. She was instrumental in helping the news station win the Edward Murrow Award.

This hard working journalist is always looking for opportunities to grow and develop her craft.
